One of the most awaited events in the short history of Windows Phone devices has happened, as Microsoft finally rolled out the Windows 10 Mobile OS update for the users of the Nokia Lumia devices. These users were promised this update back in the December of last year, but delay after delay caused it to come out 4 months later, in the March of this year.
The update was earlier available only for the users of the Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, Lumia 550 and Lumia 650 devices. Microsoft has now released the update for the older users, and this news has spread a wave of positivity across the users. The update has been long awaited and is a welcome change for most of the older phones.
Over the last one year, Microsoft has suffered major losses in the mobile phone markets, but with the arrival of this new update, things are indeed expected to get better for the company.
The Windows 10 Mobile OS update came out for the users of many older Nokia Lumia phones such as Lumia 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 636 1GB, 638 1GB, 430, 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, and the MCJ Madosma Q501 devices.
Users of the Lumia 520, 1020 and 1320 devices have been discontent as they are not included in the list of devices which get this update. Microsoft has explained this omission on their blog, stating:
“This list includes a limited set of Windows Phone 8.1 devices and does not include some devices that are currently running Windows 10 Mobile in the Windows 10 Mobile Insider program. As Windows 10 delivers significant new innovations, many older devices are not able to successfully upgrade without an impact on the customer experience. Our goal is to only offer the Windows 10 upgrade to devices that we are confident can continue to deliver a good customer experience,” the company said.
