A year ago, Viber has confirmed that it will develop a universal application for Microsoft’s Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile, without giving an exact date when that will happen. Also, during this time, the company hasn’t updated their users with the development progress, but a few months ago, it admitted that the application is in the works. In May, the application was released to beta testers and now, it’s finally available to the public.
However, Viber for Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile has started rolling out in beta form and because it’s a universal application, it has been optimized to work on any device that runs on the two operating systems. That’s because the Chat Responsive design resizes the application for optimal viewing, no matter if you’re using a phone, a tablet, a laptop or computer.
Also, the developers have introduced new features, such as end-to-end encryption (the padlock icon confirms that messages are secure), public chats, People app integration, group messages with up to 200 people, and the possibility to delete a sent message.
Viber has been released in December 2010 and the application already offered a variety of features. Users were able to forward messages to others, to send their location, to have group conversations, to block annoying contacts, to send texts, photos and videos, to make voice and video calls for free, to other Viber users, to call landline and mobile numbers using the Viber Out service, to share a contact, to use stickers, to share the screen for desktop, to have hidden chats and to create Public Chats.
So, if you want to download the new Viber for Windows 10 in beta, you’ll find it on the Windows Store. At first, you might notice some bugs, but don’t worry, the developers will fix them and the final version of the application will run flawlessly.
